That was LBJ's instant assumption: Fidel did it as payback for the Kennedy Bros. trying to assassinate him.

RFK instantly came up with three conspiracy theories, of which he felt that the most probable was that it was Mafia payback for RFK's investigations of organized crime.

Convenient theory for RFK-- he got his brother killed for the things he did right. Now, if it was Castro, then it meant that he got him killed for RFK's illegal assassination operations.
